Bali Trip 2007.

We had a company trip to Bali for 4 days 3 nights from 29th December 2007 till 1st Jan 2008. This is the 1st time I didn't spend my New Year in Malaysia.

Day 1:
It was about 2pm after we checked out from the airport. Once came out to meet the local tour guide there, we were given white flowers leis (Orchid maybe. Not so sure what's the name of the flower.) when we just walked out by 2 local girls. After that, the 1st thing we did was to take lunch in a Chinese restaurant. The food there is so so only. Actually the whole trip we didn't really had nice food. Maybe we are just not used to their taste.

After lunch, we headed to the Inna Grand Bali Resort(the so-called 5 star hotel, which I think it was maybe a 5 star when it was 30 years back) to check in. I got the last room at the last corner of the hotel, which is I believe the largest, and with nicest view cos it's the nearest to the swimming pool and the beach. It actually took me 5 min to walk from the hotel lobby to my room.

1 hour later, we gathered at the hotel lobby and went to the Bounty Cruise for dinner.

The food there, again, was not nice at all for we Malaysia. The cruise dinner is buffet style, and not much choices. Trust me, really 'not much'. They had some dances in the cruise while the guests were eating. The queue to get the food was so long. I felt stuffy inside the cruise. Actually almost more than half of us got seasick because the cruise is not that big. I decided to go outside to take some fresh air before I join the long queue to get my food. Didn't expect to see there were actually food available too on the 2nd level. After the dinner those who came out to take fresh air didn't intent to get back to the lowest level to see the entertainment anymore.
After got down from the cruise, we headed to Kuta area, the busiest place in Bali) to have a look. We walked along the street, and saw one shop actually using real people to post like a window display model. They looked so real, I mean real window display model, except for their eyes are blinking. A man poked the model's arm to check whether she's real or fake and then the model suddenly walked down to change with another model and frightened the man. Haha...

About 11pm and went back hotel to rest.

Day 2:
We had breakfast at 7.30am in the hotel. The only food I like is the sausages.
We gathered at 8.30am to head to the turtle island in a glass bottom boat. The glass bottom are actually for the tourist to see the coral below the boat, but we didn't see any corals due to the water was too dirty. After that we went up to this turtle island to see the green turtle. The turtle is small. Besides turtle, they have fruit bats, eagle, and a snake for the tourist to take picture with those animals while holding them. Finally I gotta to touch a snake and the eagle. The eagle was OK, but the snake's scales made me feel so weird.

After the animals session, we went back to the beach where we store our stuff. Some from our groups played the flying fish(it's not available in Malaysia yet I guess). Some played banana boat and jet ski. I'm not interested in those because I've tried it. Not interested in the flying fish was because basically the fish alike floating balloon blocked the whole view and wind. Then there were these 2 old ladies came to sell their massage package. It's only around RM16 for 30 min for whole body massage by the beach. I just lied down on the bench and there were actually 4 person did the massage for me at the same time (maybe they didn't have other customers at that time). All my colleagues were teasing I was like a queen being served by 4 person at the same time. :P
After that. We went for lunch inside the 1st duty free shopping mall in Bali. The quality of the food still about the same. After lunch we took about 15 min to looked around in the duty free departmental store. Didn't buy anything there. Then we got up to the bus and headed to Tanah Lot to see the most famous temple in Bali.

Photobucket
See how grand is the temple. It was actually built by the seaside where people can only go to the temple by boat during uptide.

Then we went to shopping at the art market there. I bought most of my souvenirs here. I got almost the same thing as my 2 or 3 other colleagues, but with at least 10% cheaper than they paid. They said I was so good in bargaining. Actually i didn't say much. I just open a price which I think it's reasonable, and the sellers are either take it or leave it. I find no point barganing there since there were so many stalls there.

We went to Jimbaran Bay for seafood BBQ dinner. I only like the clams, and their sambal. The rest...not my favourite. We went back to hotel quite early that night. Who knows, the stupid room I was staying had power failure for one hour. One hour of power failure in a 5 start hotel, and it's only my room. Can you believe it!! It's the worst hotel I ever stay.

A few of us came out to the lounge to have a few drinks till 1am only headed back to our rooms to sleep.

Day 3:
We went to the wood craving and art center in the morning after breakfast. Bought a few things there, and took some pictures of funny wood art.

I think Bali people are actually quite open minded, as I could see a lot of 'penises' all around Bali. Of course not the real one, but they made it in key chain, and decoration items. I saw a few old ladies going topless too in front of their houses. Perhaps they are just 'pure', like Adam's & Eve's world.

After that we went to Ubud market for shopping. Bought a few things here too. Then I went the the famous Babi Guling place where they sell the most famous 'fried pork' in Bali. The tour guide
helped us to buy a few boxes to try.

After Ubud we went to to Kintamani to see the still active volcano. That was the only place I felt comfortable because of it's cooling air, like Genting Highland. The whole Bali was so hot and humid. The local tour guide said we were so lucky because it didn't rain throughout that 4 days because the rain was non stop pouring for a week before we reached there. The local tour guide told us not to touch or ask about the price of what the people there selling if we are not interested to buy. Or else they will bug you till you buy. I read this from the internet too. So I didn't even give the eye contact, walked straight, and just ignored what those sellers offered. A few of my colleagues got trapped(surrounded) by the sellers.

My throat started to feel sore as I didn't drink enough water because not convenient to find a wash room. :(

Then we went to Guwang market(another art market where more local people there) while 3 from our group went for the spa session. Bought 2 dresses for my sisters there. Then we went back to the hotel to perpare for the New Year's Eve Gala dinner in the hotel ballroom.

The ambiance was nice in the hotel ball room, but the food really..no comment. The nicest dish for the whole dinner (like the formal western dinner kind of event) was the small tiny glass of lemon ice. Most of us just eat in order to fill our stomach only. The food there really pretty sad.
Right after the count down, we went back to the hotel room to rest. I didn't sleep well that night because my sore throat is getting worse.

Day 4:
We had tele-match. Splited into 3 teams. Played beach volleyball, tug-of-war, 3-legged-walk, and beach futsal.
1st game was volleyball. All of us didn't really know how to play. So we mostly got the points from those who can serve the ball well. My team got no2 in this.
2nd game which I got my left foot blue black from the game 3-legged-walk as left foot of the colleague in front of me was off from the board, and we had to force to finish the game. Luckily we got no.1 in that game.
3rd one was tug-of-war. My team had no problem at all in winning this since the strongest few guys were in my team. End up, my arm still feel pain even after 2 days. :P
4th one was Futsal. A colleague of mine accidentally kicked another colleague's leg and cause her toe fractured. So fragile. She was crying out loud like a baby until 2 kids teased her crying so loud. That ends the good mood of all of us.
After the games, we went back to the room to clean up and pack then prepare to check out. After checking out, we finally had our nicest meal in that 4 days in the hotel.

Photobucket
Simple but nice lunch.

After the lunch 8 of us went to the spa. This is the 1st time I do the spa. So not used to it as we need to take off everything(wearing only 1 paper panty) and let the masseur massaged you, put the scrub and then the yogurt on you. I fall asleep for a while while waiting for the yogurt to be absorbed by my body. After that we had flower bath.

Photobucket
Beautiful left out flower petals in the bath tub.

We supposed to go to Kuta to meet up with other colleagues before went to airport, but the traffic jam was so bad, and all of us decided to go to airport earlier. I started to have fever when we reached airport. I bought the liquor and ciggies in the duty free shops in Bali because I wanted to finish my Rupiah before I came back to KL, although the ciggies here is about RM10 more expensive than KL's. Luckily the Air Asia flight didn't delay this time, and we reached LCCT actually 20 minutes earlier than the ETA.

After we went back only I realized that I actually didn't buy enough souvenirs for my colleagues. So sorry about that. :P
